Gartner: 2013 is big data's year

Latest research by the analyst firm has predicted that big data implementation will dramatically increase over the coming year.

New research by analyst company Gartner has revealed that 42 per cent of firms have already invested in big data or will do so over the rest of the year.


The latest study, part of Gartner’s ‘Big Data, Bigger Opportunities: Investing in Information and Analytics’ report, had led to the claim that 2013 will be ‘big data’s year’.

Innovative big data firm launches State-side

Last week marked the launch of big data firm Ayasdi, a Silicon Valley-based outfit that is making ground-breaking developments in the field of data analysis and visualisation through its use of topology.

The company has pioneered the use of algebraic topology – its Insight Discovery Platform – to yield insights out of blind analyses of large and unstructured amounts of data.
