Listen to an audio cast by BBC Radio Four which introduces big data to the masses.

BBC Radio 4 is offering an audio-cast segment in which technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones discusses big data.

With the consumer, knowingly or not, adding to ‘the vast reservoir of data’, Aunty has offered an overview of the market trend taking dominating 2012 through Radio 4’s popular Today programme.

Cellan-Jones, broadcasting from the somewhat impractical location of a noisy data centre, introduces what he labels ‘the big data revolution’ and gives a summary of the benefits and even potential dangers of it before James Murray, European vice-president of data analyst specialists Splunk, gives his insight on the impact of big data analytics for both seller and consumer.
