Big data – the latest business buzz technology – has risen quickly to prominence among British companies but few have been able to produce tangible benefits from it in the early months of adoption, according to a new report released today by Big Data Insight Group.
The report – ‘Understanding the business benefits and strategic implications of big data’ – has been independently produced by Big Data Insight Group and is sponsored by the global information management company EMC. It is led by a survey of 300 senior decision makers in business, finance and IT roles from UK companies, blue chip to SME.
Our independent research has revealed that UK organisations, though showing a clear interest in the subject, are not yet in a position to realise the benefits from big data through their early stage projects. The key findings from the survey were:
